What is a Shoutout?
Shoutouts let you recognize teammates in Slack by tagging them in a message and adding a Shoutout emoji. Useful for calling out wins, showing appreciation, and celebrate contributions as they happen.

How to Send a Shoutout
Step 1: Go to a Slack channel with Donut
You can send a shoutout in any Slack channel that Donut is added to.
β
Teams often use dedicated channels like #wins, or #kudos, but shoutouts also work in other channels Donut is inβlike #new-hires, #celebrations, or #watercooler.
Step 2: Write your shoutout message
In the Slack message composer:
β
Write your message
Share what they did and why it mattered.
β
βTag the teammate(s) you want to recognize
You can tag one or more people in the same message.
β
Add the Shoutouts emoji
Include the emoji your team uses for Shoutouts (for example π© or π).
Each emoji equals 1 point.
β
π‘ Tip: If you want to give several points in a Shoutout, you can use a multiplier (for example, 5x π©) instead of repeating the emoji multiple times.
β
βAdd a value tag (optional):
If your team has Shoutouts Values set up, you can include a value tag or emoji in your message to tie recognition to company values. Ex: #SupportEachOther
β
When youβre ready, send the message.
