Everyone makes mistakes. A Mistake Party gives small groups of teammates a regular space to talk about theirs openly and walk away with something learned.
đĄ The Mistake Party template is inspired by LifeLabs Learning's research on learning from failure. Read their take on how to learn from failure without fearing it in Fast Company.
How a Mistake Party works
Every 4 weeks, Donut introduces groups of 4 in a group DM and shares the agenda:
Find a 30-minute window that works for everyone in the next week.
Take turns introducing yourself, sharing a mistake from work or life, and what you learned from it (about 5 minutes each).
Cheer each other on! đ
Wrap up by sharing any final insights or takeaways as a group.
Ground rules: Choose courage over comfort. Whatever's shared in the group stays in the group.

Tips for a great Mistake Party
Go first: When leaders share their own mistakes, it's easier for everyone else to open up.
Any size counts: A typo in a big email is just as welcome as a project that went sideways.
Make it yours: Customize the intro message to match your team's culture.
Check in: Visit your reports to see whether groups are meeting.
