What is Team Pulse?
Team Pulse is an early access beta feature in the Donut dashboard that helps admins understand the communication health of their Slack workspace. It analyzes participation patterns and sentiment in Slack channels where Donut is installed, giving admins visibility into engagement trends and collaboration patterns.
What data does Team Pulse use?
Team Pulse currently analyzes Slack channel activity where Donut is installed.
It looks at signals such as:
Participation patterns across Donut channels
Responsiveness and interaction in conversations
Sentiment trends in channel communication
These signals are used to generate high-level insights into communication health.
What insights does Team Pulse provide?
Team Pulse surfaces two key signals:
Participation
Measures how actively people contribute to conversations based on message frequency and interaction patterns.
Sentiment
Analyzes the emotional tone of conversations to identify whether communication trends are positive, neutral, or negative.
Admins can also view:
90-day summaries of channel communication health
Weekly pulse updates highlighting engagement patterns
Trend charts showing up to 6 months of changes in sentiment and participation
How is Team Pulse organized?
Insights are presented at the channel level, not the individual level.
Admins can:
View overall workspace communication summaries
Drill down into specific Slack channels
Monitor weekly engagement and sentiment trends
This helps teams identify areas where collaboration is thriving or where additional attention may be helpful.
Does Team Pulse analyze private messages?
No. Team Pulse only analyzes activity in Slack channels where Donut is installed. It does not analyze direct messages.
Who can access Team Pulse?
Only Donut Account Admins can access Team Pulse.
