The "Schedule Cohort Events" message type allows you to create calendar events for your entire cohort, perfect for group activities like trainings, happy hours, and other events everyone should attend.

Key Features

How It Works

  1. When you add this message type to your Journey, it will create a calendar event for the specified date and time.

  2. As people are enrolled in the cohort, they are automatically added as attendees to the event.

Best Practices

  • Use this feature for events that all cohort members should attend.

  • Consider time zones when scheduling events, especially for distributed teams.

  • Combine with other Cohort message types, like Creating Cohort Channels and Scheduling Cohort Messages, to provide context or reminders about the event.

Setting Up a Cohort Event

  1. Log into your Donut dashboard and go to All Journeys in the left sidebar menu (Haven't created a Journey? Learn how to get started here)

  2. In your Donut Journey, locate the date you'd like your event to happen and click "Add Message"

  3. Click "Schedule Events" in the left sidebar menu, then select "Schedule Cohort Events" as the message type

  4. Enter the Invite Details:

    1. Meeting title

    2. Meeting description (optional)

    3. Meeting location (optional)

    4. Link your calendar and video conferencing tools to make it easier for your cohort to meet. Once you've linked you account be use to click the "I've linked my account" button under the Video Conferencing section to continue.

  5. Set the meeting time for your event: settings include Timezone and Meeting Duration

    💡 Tip: If you need to change the date at this point, we recommend opening the Journey in a separate tab and clicking View Calendar as > Dates to see the event date.

  6. Select which specific people or roles should be included (e.g., new hires, managers, buddies)


  7. Click Save to schedule the event's creation!

By using the "Schedule Cohort Events" message type, you can ensure that all your cohort members are on the same page and have important group events on their calendars, fostering better communication and participation in your onboarding or training programs.
