Donut's all-in-one platform makes it easy to enroll participants, create engaging content, and track your program's progress. In this guide, we'll walk you through everything you need to know to set up and manage a successful mentorship program using Donut Journeys.
Step 1: Create Your Mentorship Journey
Go to your Donut dashboard and select "Donut Journeys" in the left sidebar menu.
Select "Prebuilt Journeys" and choose the "Peer Mentorship Program" journey, "New Manager Mentorship" journey, or click "Blank Journey" to start from scratch.
If you're creating a Blank Journey, provide a title (e.g., "Mentorship Program") and select the "Mentorship" category.
Customize the Building Blocks and messages to fit your mentorship program's goals and timeline.
Step 2: Enroll Mentors and Mentees
Navigate to the "Mentee Cohorts" tab in your Mentorship Journey, then click "Enroll Mentees."
Choose one of the three enrollment methods:
a. Form Enrollment (recommended): Create a custom enrollment form with relevant questions for mentors and mentees. Share the form via direct message or in a channel.
b. Bulk Enrollment: Select "Enroll Multiple" and add participants line by line or copy/paste from an Excel sheet.
c. Individual Enrollment: Select "Enroll Participant" and complete the required fields for each mentor and mentee.

During the enrollment process of each method, you will have the option to set the anchor date (the start date of your mentorship program).
Step 3: Customize Your Mentorship Program Content
Within your Mentorship Journey, select "Add Message" to create customized content for your participants.
Choose from various message types, like channel messages, tasks, or polls, to engage mentors and mentees throughout the program.
Tailor the content and timing of each message to support the goals and milestones of your mentorship program.
Consider including resources, discussion prompts, and reflection questions to foster meaningful interactions between mentors and mentees.
Step 4: Match Mentors and Mentees
The feature demonstrated below is only available if you used the Form Enrollment method outlined in Step 2. If you use the other options, you'll have a chance to manually select the mentors and mentees during the enrollment process.
After participants have signed up for the program as a mentor or mentee, navigate to the "Mentee" tab in your Mentorship Journey.
Find the cohort you'd like to manage and click the first icon that resembles a person inside of a chat bubble (screenshot provided) to view to the responses to your form.
Review the responses provided by mentors and mentees during the enrollment process.
Match participants based on their responses, ensuring compatibility and alignment with the program's goals by assigning each mentee to a mentor using the drop-down menus:

Step 5: Monitor and Manage Your Mentorship Program
Access reporting features to track the progress of your mentorship program and ensure participants are engaging with the content.
Utilize feedback polls to gather insights from mentors and mentees and make data-driven decisions to improve the program.
Regularly review and update your Mentorship Journey content based on participant feedback and program outcomes.
