Donut’s AI Onboarding Agent helps you quickly build a draft Journey based on your goals and onboarding materials. Upload a PDF, and Donut will generate a complete flow you can review and customize to fit your team.
1. Get Started
Go to Donut Journeys from the left menu.
Click Get Started under Build your Onboarding Agent with AI.
2. Upload Materials (Optional)
Upload a PDF file (e.g., onboarding guide, checklist, program outline, etc).
You can also type directly into the text box if you don’t have a doc.
Click Next (or Skip for now if you don’t want to upload).
Donut will scan for relevant goals, terms, and tasks.
3. Set Goals
Donut AI will scan your documents and suggest goals (e.g., Collect feedback from new hires, Buddy Program, Manager reminders).
Toggle goals on or off, or add your own custom goal.
Click Next.
4. Processing
After you select goals, Donut will begin building your Journey.
The loading screen will show progress through several steps—reviewing documents, processing goals, planning the Journey, writing messages, and finalizing.
This process may take 3–5 minutes.
5. Review the Calendar
Once processing is complete, Donut will create a draft Journey.
The generated draft may include:
Preboarding tasks for managers or IT
Day-one instructions for new hires
Buddy introductions
30/60/90-day check-ins
Note: Cohort messages types and Intros to a specific person are not supported at this time.
Any content (emails, tools, links, naming conventions) found in your PDF will be included where possible.
6. Review and Finalize
The AI Onboarding Agent gives you a strong draft, but a quick review helps make sure it’s spot-on for your team:
Check for accuracy: AI might miss small details or use wording that isn’t quite your style.
Tweak as needed: Adjust tone, timing, or recipients so everything feels right for your team.
Add relevant materials: The AI-generated Journey won’t include file attachments, but you can manually add attachments to any message during editing.
